Why the outdoors (and me) are crazy about MERINO WOOL?

Forget about childhood's nightmare: itchy, woolly pullover knitted by your grandma. Now wool rules the outdoor fashion world - Merino wool which is soft and lightweight.

Merino wool is made for extremes - breathable in summer and insulating during winter. Dries a bit slower than synthetic, but still keeps you warm even when you are sweating. You can wear merino woolies for days and they won’t smell (natural anti-stink properties). In fact, the known record for wearing an Icebreaker merino non-stop is 196 days in extreme conditions! It's easy to take care. It's machine washable, dries fast and you don’t have to iron it. As a natural fiber it can shrink and pill a little but if you treat it according to the instruction, you will enjoy it for years.
Brands like icebreaker adopted merino wool into a system of lightweight layers. Instead of heavy and clumsy fleece you can wear merino sweater as a mid-layer. It will look great and won’t limit your moves as it stretches when you are active.

Merino sheeps.
Living mostly in New Zealand and Australia, they are easily adopting to varying weather conditions, from hot summers to harsh winters.

  • In summer, the merino’s thin, light, super-breathable coat keeps him cool in temperatures that hit +35 °C (+95 °F)
  • In winter, he grows an extra layer of wool over his base coat as protection against temperatures that plummet to -20 °C (-4 °F).
